The Animaddict Blog, welcome you fellow Otakus.

Personally I can relate that Mauritius, has not a proper Otaku Group. This is why I’ve created this Blog (Mauritian Blog) just to promote the Japanese culture (Anime, Cosplay and Events) to Mauritius.

The Quinx Squad Members

Tokyo Ghoul: Re:
Two years have passed since the CCG’s raid on Anteiku. Although the atmosphere in Tokyo has changed drastically due to the increased influence of the CCG, ghouls continue to pose a problem as they have begun taking caution, especially the terrorist organization Aogiri Tree, who acknowledge the CCG’s growing threat to their existence.
The creation of a special team, known as the Quinx Squad, may provide the CCG with the push they need to exterminate Tokyo’s unwanted residents. As humans who have undergone surgery in order to make use of the special abilities of ghouls, they participate in operations to eradicate the dangerous creatures. The leader of this group, Haise Sasaki, is a half-ghoul, half-human who has been trained by famed special class investigator, Kishou Arima. However, there’s more to this young man than meets the eye, as unknown memories claw at his mind, slowly reminding him of the person he used to be.

❂ Erza Scarlet ❂

Erza Scarlet is an S-class mage of Fairy Tail and the daughter of Irene Belserion. She was also the 7th guild master of Fairy Tail. Erza has ruby eyes and long smooth scarlet hair which reaches till her hips. She walks about in armor most of the time. Erza is regarded as beautiful and she was the winner of the Miss Fairy Tail contest held in X784.

ο½‘β˜†βœΌβ˜…β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β”β˜…βœΌβ˜†ο½‘

● Backstory ●

Erza was a resident of Rosemary village (it was the place where she was abandoned). When she was just 4 or something, it was attacked by a cult who worshipped Zeref. Their motive was to capture people so that they could complete building the Tower of Heaven where Zeref could be revived through the R-system. Erza was kidnapped and taken to the Tower where she was imprisoned with chains and made to labour like hell during the day. She was only a child and was burdened with work. In her prison cell, she met a few other children namely Simon, Sho, Wally, Milliana and Jellal. There was also an elderly man named Rob with them who was later revealed to be a member of Fairy Tail. Jellal was the jovial type who tried to cheer everyone up. He gave Erza her surname Scarlet due to her scarlet colored hair. The kids had a very hard and depressing time in the Tower, wondering if they’d ever see what’s beyond the tower. Despite their hardships, the children stuck to each other and formed close bonds.

One day, Sho came up with an idea to escape the wretched place. But they failed and got caught by the guards. The guards wanted to know who came up with the plan so that they could punish that person. Erza, not wanting her friend to get hurt, proceeded to take the blame herself. But before she could speak up, Jellal claimed that he was the one who originally proposed the escape plan. But the guards refused to believe him, instead they accused Erza of being the culprit. She was taken into a torture chamber and was tortured unmercifully. As a result, she lost her right eye (wait-was it left?). Later, Jellal rushes to her rescue but he ended up getting caught. Now it was Erza’s turn to rush to his side and she begged everyone to grab weapons and fight! At that time, when she was being attacked by a guard, Grandpa Rob ran to protect her. He took all the damage and his fragile body did not make it. In a flash of fury and sorrow, Erza unlocked the magic that was within her. Manipulating all the arms within range, she headed to the torture chamber to rescue Jellal. But it was too late. Jellal had been brainwashed. He started preaching about ‘true freedom’ and ‘Zeref’. Erza was confused by the sudden change in him and tried to reason with him but failed miserably. He asked her to help him revive Zeref but she refused. He threatened to kill her friends if she told anyone about the incidents that had just happened. She was thrown out of the Tower and all the boats and ships were burnt by Jellal. He then told the others that Erza had betrayed them all. Erza managed to reach the shore but her heart and soul was torn apart. Afterwards, she finds Fairy Tail guild. Master Makarov takes her to Porlyusica who fixes her right (or left) eye by planting an artificial one in its place. At first she remains isolated from everyone, always crying alone in a corner still traumatised by what all had happened. But soon she warms up to everyone and become more joyful and light hearted.

● Personality ●

According to Natsu and Gray’s description of Erza, she was portrayed as a terrifying beast. The mere mention of Erza’s name scared the living daylights out of both of them. When she was first shown, we see that she’s strict and serious. Silence fell upon the noisy guild, when Erza made her grand entrance. Apparently, no one wished to invoke her wrath. Nevertheless, everyone greatly respected and admired Erza and she was given the nickname ‘Titania’ meaning Queen of the Fairies. Since her very childhood, she had always been kind, compassionate and fearless. Inside the Tower of Heaven, she was a source of hope to her captive friends. Even at such a young age, she would do anything within her capabilities to protect her friends.

Because of the tragic events of her past, she locked her heart inside her armor. She stated that she feels insecure without her armor. But most of her armors are revealing and exposed at the most vulnerable areas. So I don’t get the point of wearing an armor if it doesn’t protect you πŸ€”. Coming back to her personality, there is something warm and comforting about her. Erza appears to be authoritative and domineering at first sight, yet kind and gentle at heart. If you genuinely want to talk about something to someone, Erza is the person to go to. Not only will she listen, she will also advice you. I feel that Erza finds difficulty in conveying her feelings properly. She can easily soothe or ease one’s pain, but is unable to manage her own emotions sometimes. There are times when she behaves like an absolute weirdo and says the most stupidest things. Not that I mind her weirdness but I feel that Mashima has failed to balance her personality.

❂ Mirajane Strauss ❂

Mirajane is an angel, a godess, the devil and most importantly a Queen.

Mirajane Strauss is an S-class wizard of Fairy Tail. She is the oldest of the Strauss siblings. Mira is a good-looking woman with pale blue eyes and white wavy hair. A small fringe on her forehead is usually tied up and kept. Mirajane mostly wears dresses that reach up to her ankles. She acquired a lot of fame by working as a pinup model for the weekly Sorcerer magazine.

● Backstory ●

Mirajane lived with her siblings in a small village. The village got attacked by one of the demons from Zeref’s books. Mirajane took on the demon and acquired it’s abilities. Due to this, her left hand turned into an ugly thing with claws. The inhabitants of the village named her as a demon and harassed her household. Mirajane thought it was best to leave the village instead of tolerating it. So the three of them left and travelled to many places. They eventually landed up in Magnolia and discovered Fairy Tail. Makarov examined Mirajane’s hand and assured her that she hasn’t transformed into a demon or anything. He told her that she had lost control over her magical abilities. Soon Fairy Tail became their home. Lisanna and Elfman fit in with the rest of them and it seemed that all was well. However Mira didn’t mix with the others. She remained secluded from everyone. One day she decided to leave the place without informing anyone. She was convinced that her two siblings would be fine in the care of the guild. But before she could even take a few steps she was stopped by her siblings. They ran up to her and happily told her that they had learned transforming magic too. They didn’t want Mira to feel different so they learned to use it. Mira was touched and she decided to stay.

In the year X782 all three of them set out on an S-class quest. During the mission, Elfman lost control of himself while trying to achieve a full body take over. He went wild and started attacking his siblings. Lisanna confronted him to try and calm him down. But instead she got attacked by him. She fell to the ground and Mira was horrified. By the time she reached there, Lisanna’s body started disappearing. It was too heartbreaking for Mira to watch. This incident left a deep scar on her heart and it was the reason she changed.

● Personality ●

Mirajane is a sweetheart. She has a truly angelic personality. Mira plays a motherly role in the guild. As a child, she had a completely contrasting personality to her present one. She was a really mean teen. Always picking fights and walking around like a gangster. However this changed once her beloved Lisanna died. She was sorry for all the trouble she had caused to her siblings because of her violent nature. So she changed. From then on, she decided to be someone who looked after others. She didn’t want others to experience the pain she felt when her sister died. She wanted to relieve others off their pain and suffering. She is always seen with a smile on her face. Some people become blinded when they acquire a lot of power and tend to misuse it. But not Mirajane which is something I admire about her. Despite being incredibly powerful, she always forgives her enemies in the end.

❂ Minerva Orland ❂

Minerva Orland is the strongest mage of Sabertooth and an ex-member of the Dark guilds Tartaros and it’s sub-guild called Succubus eye. Minerva is a young woman with long black hair tied up as small buns on either side of her head and the rest of her hair is left loose. She wears traditional middle eastern type of clothing.

● Backstory ●

Not much is known about her past, except that she had a cruel father who abused her. Minerva’s father, Jiemma made her to undergo harsh training in her childhood. He wanted her to get rid of all her ‘weaknesses’ such as feelings of compassion, empathy and fear. Once she was made to battle another person (sorry I don’t remember his name) and she won. Jiemma then asked her to finish him off, which she refused to do. He became mad at her and left her all alone in the forest telling her to return only when she became stronger.

● Personality ●

Minerva was vicious and relentless. She was your typical villain, selfish and immoral. She would blackmail and threaten others to get what she wanted. But at the same time she’s intelligent (or cunning) and mature. During the GMG, she ruthlessly beat up Lucy and what’s more, she was enjoying herself to the fullest. After the naval battle ended, she just looked at Lucy’s bruised body and smirked. In the final day of the GMG, she captured Milliana and used her as a hostage to earn points. She then asked Erza and Kagura to battle each other threatening to hurt Milliana if they refused to obey her. Meanwhile she scratched Milliana’s back which started bleeding, to ‘entertain’ herself as she was bored. We saw a different side of Minerva when Erza emerged victorious after they battled with each other. She burst into tears when she realized that now Sabertooth had no chance of winning the GMG.

Minerva changed significantly after her second match with Erza. She deeply regretted her vile actions and wanted to apologise for all the trouble she had caused. When she rejoined Sabertooth, she was afraid that everyone would hate her, but she was taken aback when her guildmates welcomed her with warm smiles and shouts of joy. From then on, she became much more humble and open about her feelings.

Tendencies of a Monster

❝ But, tell me. How do I run away from being a monster? ❞

At first glance, she doesn’t look any different from a normal human being. But if you look more carefully, the first thing you’ll notice is two little horns, purposefully hidden, unusually sharp teeth and eyes full of hatred for this word.

[short blog inspired by Darling in the FranXX, Episode 12]

Have you ever felt utterly disgusted by your own self? The thought that you will never fit in with others, the surprise and even fear you see in their eyes every time they look at you. The feeling of being so different and knowing you’ll never, ever be accepted as someone normal. You walk past a mirror, and get a glimpse of yourself – an image you’re quite used to seeing, but one that triggers unconditional hatred and frustration, one that you can’t change because it’s who you are. Blinded by anger, you break the mirror with the hope that along with its pieces, your monstrous form will also cease to exist. But life doesn’t work like that, and it never will.

Zero Two has always been too different.
In a way, it feels like she’s constantly wearing a mask – her emotions and inner thoughts remain a mystery, and because of that she doesn’t really feel like a human. However, it is this part of her character that is so fascinating. Despite her not being an actual person, her desire to become one is the most human wish I can think of. Why would a real monster even care that it’s different than others? Would it even think about it in the first place? Or is the fact that she’s surrounded by humans the reason as to why Zero Two despises her own self and everyone else?

In my opinion, the answer lies exactly in the environment. If you’re a monster surrounded by your kind, you wouldn’t feel different and you wouldn’t hate yourself and the entire world. But, imagine being seperated from your usual surroundings, taken to an unknown place and being forced to interact and live among some creatures that somewhat look like you, but in reality have a completely different mindset and outlook on things. And on top of that, they make you fight and risk your life for their sake, forcing you to protect their kind and go through immense pain just for that purpose. This leads me to the conclusion that Zero Two’s hatred for everyone and everything is completely justified and her desperation to become human is understandable. She’s ready to go to any lenghts not to feel like a monster anymore.

❝ you’re not human after all, are you? ❞

In a way, I consider the Zero Two we’ve been seeing so far in the first 11 episodes to be just an act. Purposefully doing her best in order to motivate Hiro to synchronize with her well, she was extremely happy when he didn’t die after piloting the Franxx for the third time with her. But it wasn’t because she developed feelings for him like he did, but due to there finally being an actual chance for her to become human. Zero Two believes that the more klaxosaurs she kills, the bigger the chance of her becoming human gets. Whether that’s true or not – we still don’t know, but one thing is certain. Zero Two may be a monster, but she doesn’t lack similarities with the human race. And that’s not only appearance wise, but more so her extreme, desperate desire to fit in with the others and to be like everyone else.

Going as far as calling Hiro “fodder’’ and showing everyone her actual self, in episode 12 of Darling in the FranXX we get a raw look at how Zero Two truly is. We understand that not only does she feel nothing towards him, but he’s just there so that she can achieve what she wants – nothing more, nothing less. Human emotions such as love and affection that Hiro feels towards her mean nothing to Zero Two. She’s so focused on her one goal that she turns a blind eye to everything else, it doesn’t have any significance to her.

❝ desperate to be saved ❞

A demon girl with red skin and blue blood.
That’s how Zero Two is described in the end of the episode. Where did she come from, what did she go through in the past and was she always like that – those are questions that we still don’t know the answer to. She’s a mysterious being for sure, fascinating to follow and I’m always eager to know more about her – maybe that’s why I enjoyed the last Franxx episode to such an extent. The raw display of her emotions, her fierceness and recklessness in battle triggered by her desire to be human as soon as possible, the utter disgust she feels when she looks at herself in the mirror and her general indifference towards Hiro’s confession made for a very compelling watch and while she wasn’t among my favourite characters in the beginning, I’m starting to take a liking to her as of now.

Her relationship with Hiro I wouldn’t call exactly ‘romantic’ since it’s basically one-sided love, and Hiro has just realized his feelings for her, while she doesn’t even comprehend what love is. But I’m interested to see how will this pair interact in the future and the development they’ll go through – will Hiro be able to save Zero Two from herself, or is she going to continue evolving until she goes back to being a monster completely? I think it’s going to be a journey of whether she manages to understand what she truly wants or not, and if she can finally feel human emotions for the first time.

First and foremost, Madhouse Inc. is a studio which has predominantly focused on producing a more mature type of anime. When anime fandom was still in it’s infancy in the West, part of the appeal of the medium was that it was a slick and sophisticated form of animation that adults could also watch. Madhouse was responsible for some of the hottest mature-orientated anime back in the day. Galactic Patrol Lensman, Birdy the Mighty, The Dagger of Kamui, Battle Angel Alita, Cyber City 808, Harmagedon, Wicked City, Demon City Shinjuku, Doomed Megalopolis, Perfect Blue, Ninja Scroll and Zetsuai 1989 are some older Madhouse releases which blew away anime fans back in the 80’s and 90’s.

Hana, a hard-working college student, falls in love with a mysterious man who attends one of her classes though he is not an actual student. As it turns out, he is not truly human either. On a full moon night, he transforms, revealing that he is the last werewolf alive. Despite this, Hana’s love remains strong, and the two ultimately decide to start a family.

Hana gives birth to two healthy childrenβ€”Ame, born during rainfall, and Yuki, born during snowfallβ€”both possessing the ability to turn into wolves, a trait inherited from their father. All too soon, however, the sudden death of her lover devastates Hana’s life, leaving her to raise a peculiar family completely on her own. The stress of raising her wild-natured children in a densely populated city, all while keeping their identity a secret, culminates in a decision to move to the countryside, where she hopes Ame and Yuki can live a life free from the judgments of society. Wolf Children is the heartwarming story about the challenges of being a single mother in an unforgiving modern world.

Hana

Hana is a 19-year-old college student that falls deeply in love with a wolf-man that she encounters in class one day. They start dating, and even though he tells her one night about his true nature, Hana does not seem to mind, getting married to him and eventually, giving birth to his daughter, Yuki, and one year later, to his son, Ame.

Later in the movie, Ame wants to be a wild wolf instead of a normal human like Yuki.

Ame later goes onto living in the mountains to pursue his dream of living as a wild lone wolf and to follow in his teacher’s footprints, while guarding the mountain and his territory. He would sometimes call out to his mother in the wind of the mountains.
